After weeks of negotiations, Manchester United have finally completed the signing of Brazilian left-back Alex Telles from Porto.

The deal is worth €15 million, plus a potential €2 million in add-ons, according to Rob Harris of The Associated Press.

Telles signed a four-year contract with the Red Devils on Monday.

Porto asked United to pay €25 million, but the Premier League giants refused to raise their offer for a player with an expiring contract, according to Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian.

United completed the deal a day after a 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur that renewed doubts about the squad's depth and the capabilities of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Telles is expected to compete with Luke Shaw and academy graduate Brandon Williams for the starting spot at left-back.

The 27-year-old spent five seasons with Porto, scoring 26 goals and recording more than 50 assists. He also won the Primeira Liga on two occasions and the Turkish Super Lig while on loan at Fenerbahce in 2014-15.

"First and foremost, I welcome Alex to United. He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for," Solskjaer said in a statement. "He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.

"Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United."
