Edinson Cavani's Manchester United debut is expected to be delayed, as the new arrival is in quarantine following his arrival from France on Sunday, according to Simon Stone of BBC Sport.

The Uruguayan's period of self-isolation should last 14 days, with United's first match after the international break against Newcastle United set for Oct. 17.

United have reached out to the United Kingdom government to seek clarification over quarantine rules, reports Rob Dawson of ESPN FC.

Coronavirus guidelines will also prohibit Cavani - who joined United on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain - from training with his new teammates, Stone notes.

As a result, the 33-year-old could also miss United's match against his former club, PSG, in the Champions League on Oct. 20 due to a lack of fitness.

Cavani tested positive for COVID-19 during the summer after vacationing in Ibiza.
