Brighton & Hove Albion are front of the queue to sign deep-lying midfielder Moises Caicedo after holding talks with the Ecuadorian, according to The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg.

West Ham United have reportedly made an approach for the 19-year-old, but the Seagulls' strong relationship with Caicedo's club, Independiente del Valle, has helped them jump ahead in the race for his signature. Brighton signed Billy Arce from Independiente in 2018.

Everton and Newcastle United are also apparently interested in Caicedo. Steinberg believes rumors that Manchester United were close to striking a deal for the teenager are "wide of the mark."

Independiente have become a crucial source of young Ecuadorian talent in recent years. Caicedo, who has four caps for his country, has a knack for squirming free of opponents and progressing play from the base of midfield.
