Paulo Fonseca just needs to dot the I's and cross the T's to become Tottenham's new manager.

The Portuguese touchline tactician and north London side are set to agree on terms that'll be officially announced later this week, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson.

The deal is expected to be a two-year contract with a club option for a third.

Fabio Paratici, the Spurs' recently appointed director of football, made Fonseca the No. 1 candidate after discussions with former Inter Milan bench boss Antonio Conte broke down.

Negotiations between Scudetto winner Conte and the Spurs reportedly dissolved over the Italian manager's demands and his unwillingness to take charge of a team looking to integrate younger, inexperienced players.

Fonseca, who essentially swaps spots with ex-Tottenham manager and current Roma boss Jose Mourinho, spent the last three seasons at the helm at Stadio Olimpico with the Serie A giants.
