Arsenal completed their fifth signing of the summer on Friday, acquiring utility man Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City for a reported £30 million.

Zinchenko, who's filled a variety of positions in his career, joins Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, and Matt Turner as Arsenal's latest recruit, bringing the club's total spending above £100 million.

The 25-year-old largely operated as a left-back under Pep Guardiola, providing cover in the one position the Spanish manager has struggled to fill during his six years at City.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta coached Zinchenko as Guardiola's assistant from 2016-19 and could deploy him at left-back when Kieran Tierney is unavailable. Nuno Tavares is another option but could leave on loan after enduring a difficult first season in the Premier League.

Zinchenko could also supplant Granit Xhaka on the left of Arsenal's midfield trio. The Ukrainian regularly features as a player for his country and often drives play forward from midfield.

But he's mostly stood out as a full-back that can join the attack and make game-changing tackles.

"Oleks is another player who is so reliable," Guardiola said in April. "I will never forget what he has done in these three or four years, playing in a position that is not his natural position. You can do that for one or three games, but playing seasons, you have to be so strong in the mind. He will do it every single day."

Zinchenko won four Premier League titles, four League Cups, and the FA Cup in 127 appearances for Guardiola's side.
