Report: Dortmund set to sign United target Bellingham
Borussia Dortmund have beaten Manchester United for the services of prodigious Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to a report from ESPN UK's Stephen Uersfeld.
Bellingham cannot officially agree to senior terms with Dortmund until his 17th birthday June 29. He will see out the remainder of the Championship campaign with Birmingham.
Dortmund are expected to pay a training compensation fee in the region of £20 million, a similar transaction to when the Bundesliga side tabled €7 million for then-Manchester City trainee Jadon Sancho in 2018.
Bellingham has also been linked with Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
Dortmund have successfully become a breeding ground for young talents looking to cut their teeth in one of Europe's top-five leagues.
Norwegian Erling Haaland has bagged 13 league goals in just 14 appearances with Dortmund following a January move from Salzburg, American Giovanni Reyna made his first-team debut this season as a 17-year-old, and reported United target Sancho has become one of Europe's leading assist providers.
United are now about to miss out on Bellingham for a second time after the club's reported advances for the player were denied in January.
