Tottenham sets new Premier League attendance record

Tottenham's domestic clash against Liverpool was sure to draw eyes, and, as confirmed midway through the second half of the tilt, that interest came in record-breaking numbers as an announced crowd of 80,827 sets a new high in the Premier League era.

The figure eclipses the 73,587 in attendance at Wembley two months ago for Tottenham's 2-1 loss to Chelsea. Prior to Tottenham's move to its temporary home, West Ham United set the Premier League era mark when 56,985 packed London Stadium for a tilt against Sunderland on Oct. 22, 2016.

The home supporters in attendance were given a better treat than against the Blues last time around, as Spurs earned a commanding 4-1 win over Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool. It's a result that sees Mauricio Pochettino's side maintain third in the table, behind both Manchester United and Manchester City.

While boasting an attendance of more than 80,000 is certainly a nice benefit of this temporary move to England's national stadium, Tottenham can remain ambitious of once again beating that mark, as Wembley boasts a capacity of 90,000 seats.
