Report: Newcastle manager Pardew has 1 game to save job

It's come down to one game for Newcastle manager Alan Pardew.

Pardew is expected to still have his job when Hull City visits St. James' Park on Sept. 20th.

But The Guardian's Louise Taylor reports that another loss following Saturday's disaster against Southampton would make Pardew's position "untenable."

Ironically, Hull City boss Steve Bruce has been linked with the Newcastle job should Pardew get sacked.

Taylor goes on to note that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley relishes going against the wishes of the team's supporters.

Pardew's albatross of a contract, with assistants John Carver, Steve Stone and Andy Woodman into equally lengthy deals, weighs heavily on what happens going forward. Pardew signed an eight-year contract in September 2012 and is believed to be entitled to "extremely generous compensation."
