Real Madrid's pursuit of a 20th Copa del Rey crown will have to wait another year.

Propelled by a strong performance from Los Blancos loanee Martin Odegaard and an Alexander Isak brace, Real Sociedad stunned La Liga's leaders at the Santiago Bernabeu with a 4-3 win Wednesday.

The shock result in the Spanish capital ends Real Madrid's 21-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Odegaard, who had made just one senior appearance for Real Madrid following a much-publicized move from his native Norway in 2015, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when he fired Isak's rebound between Alphonse Areola's legs.

Isak turned in a stunning acrobatic effort minutes after the interval and then fired a near-post rocket to give the Basque side an unexpected 3-0 advantage before the hosts turned up the pressure.

Madrid conceded as many goals in 69 minutes as they had in their last 11 matches in all competitions.

Marcelo scored in the 59th minute to cut Sociedad's advantage to two goals, a buffer Mikel Merino restored 10 minutes later before Rodrygo and Nacho tallied late to make matters interesting.

San Sebastian locals Sociedad now progress to the last four of Spain's domestic competition. They join second-tier sides Granada and CD Mirandes, as well as the winner of Wednesday's late tie between Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona.
