A groin injury forced Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri to withdraw from Switzerland's squad on Monday.

The Swiss Football Association revealed on Monday, as translated by BBC Sport, that Shaqiri is dealing with inflammation in his groin. He'll miss the country's upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Georgia and Denmark.

Shaqiri left the team's training camp, and an announcement regarding his replacement is expected on Tuesday.

Shaqiri, who joined Liverpool from Stoke City last summer, has scored six goals in 28 appearances this season.

However, the 27-year-old has been an unused substitute in Liverpool's last five matches in all competitions. His last appearance for the Reds was Feb. 24 when he came in off the bench against Manchester United.

Shaqiri has scored 22 goals in 80 appearances since winning his first senior cap in 2010.
