Major League Soccer is reportedly following Carlos Vela, who is showing the flashes of brilliance that once made him one of La Liga's top players.

MLS is resuming its pursuit of Vela, and the league is engaged in talks with Real Sociedad over bringing the Mexican forward to North America, according to ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle. Los Angeles Football Club, whose inaugural season will take place in 2018, is apparently among the interested parties, but the LA Galaxy, as well as other clubs, would allegedly be in the market for the player if the price is right.

Sociedad reportedly values Vela at $10 million (approximately €9.2 million). The product of Chivas is apparently a longtime target of MLS and, before the 2016 season started, was being chased by the Colorado Rapids, the Chicago Fire, and the San Jose Earthquakes.

Vela, 28, is looking better than ever in La Liga. He boasts eight goals and two assists to his name in the top flight of Spanish football this season, and scored in Sociedad's 2-1 victory against Granada CF on Saturday. The numbers are a far cry from what he was producing between 2011 and 2014, but it's clear he's gradually resurrecting his old form.

At the international level, Vela played the entirety of Mexico's 2-0 victory over Costa Rica in 2018 World Cup qualifying, and played as a substitute in El Tri's 1-0 away win to Trinidad and Tobago. He is one of countless wingers at Juan Carlos Osorio's disposal. The Colombian manager can call up Hirving Lozano, Jurgen Damm, Giovani dos Santos, Jesus Gallardo, and Jesus Manuel "Tecatito" Corona for the Confederations Cup and Gold Cup.
