Bottas takes pole for Eifel GP at Nurburgring

Valtteri Bottas claimed pole ahead of the Eifel Grand Prix after dominating at the infamous Nurburgring on Saturday and posting the best time in qualifying.

Teammate Lewis Hamilton, who is looking for his 91st race victory to move into a tie for the all-time lead with Michael Schumacher, completed the front-row lockout for Mercedes, placing second.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who sits third in the standings, will start third on the grid.

Nico Hulkenberg was called in moments before qualifying got underway to fill in for the unwell Lance Stroll at Racing Point and will start at the back of the grid after putting up the slowest time of the day.
