Neymar's father has cast aside reports that he begged Barcelona to re-sign his son from Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports from El Mundo suggested Neymar Sr. has contacted Barcelona officials on numerous occasions trying to convince the Catalan side to reunite with his son, who departed the La Liga club in 2017 for €220 million.

But Neymar Sr. responded on Friday, labeling those reports as "fake news".

Neymar insisted that he's committed to PSG, the Ligue 1 leaders, when rumors of a possible return to Barcelona began to emerge shortly after his world-record transfer.

The 26-year-old signed a five-year contract that ties him to PSG until 2022.

Since arriving in the French capital, Neymar has played an influential role in helping PSG fill their trophy cabinet, leading the team to the Ligue 1 title last season and winning the Coupe de France and Coup de la Ligue.
