Galatasaray gave their rabid fans something to cheer about Monday, as they confirmed the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco.

The Colombian striker, who was greeted by some 25,000 supporters at the airport upon his arrival in Istanbul, signed a three-year deal with the Turkish club after making the switch on a free transfer.

Falcao scored 83 goals in 139 matches for Monaco after moving from Atletico Madrid in 2013, with his time in the principality broken up by loan spells at Manchester United and Chelsea.

Though his production has steadily declined in recent seasons - his best statistical campaign in Ligue 1 came back in 2016-17, when he scored 21 goals - the veteran should offer a boost in Galatasaray's bid to secure a third successive Super Lig title.
