Report: Lyon's Gouiri on Real Madrid's watchlist
Olympique Lyonnais' academy is reportedly continuing to impress Real Madrid.
According to Marca's Jose Felix Diaz, Real Madrid is hunting for hidden gems at the Under-17 World Cup, and Los Blancos' watchlist includes Amine Gouiri, Alan, and Fernan Torres.
Gouiri, who is representing France, tallied five goals in the group stage and is the top scorer at the Under-17 World Cup. The French teenager is a product of Lyon's academy, which counts Frederic Kanoute, Ludovic Giuly, Sidney Govou, Karim Benzema, Loic Remy, Anthony Martial, and Alexandre Lacazette among its manufactured strikers.
At the European Under-17 Championship, Gouiri impressed scouts by scoring a tournament-record eight goals in four appearances. He also scored five goals as France's U-17 team beat Belgium's U-17 team 5-1 in February.
"Amine has a special profile," Armand Garrido, the manager of Lyon's U-17 team since 1992, said. "He has a little bit of everything."
Real Madrid apparently feel as if its relationship with Lyon's board is a route to signing Gouiri, as it was in Los Blancos' sale of Mariano.
