Mexican football is still recovering after it was slapped in the face by Chile, which eviscerated Mexico 7-0 at the Copa America Centenario. But there's a chance for El Tri to push the humiliating result into the shadows, as the national team will play two friendlies and two 2018 World Cup qualifiers before competing in the Confederations Cup.

With Mexico scheduled to play seven games in 28 days, and the possibility of playing in the knockout stage of the Confederations Cup, a 32-man squad was announced by the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol's Direccion de Selecciones Nacionales on Tuesday.

Among the notable inclusions is Jorge "Burrito" Hernandez, who was called up to represent Mexico for the first time under Juan Carlos Osorio. As ESPN FC's Tom Marshall wrote, the industrious central midfielder buzzes around the pitch "like a fly trapped a jar," winning back possession by charging into tackles and playing simple passes. The footballer is shining at Club Pachuca, and will look to fill El Tri's holding-midfielder role.

Giovani Dos Santos is also in Mexico's squad, but will reportedly miss El Tri's friendlies, which will see the national team take on Croatia and Ireland on May 27 and June 1, respectively.

Here's a glance at Mexico's schedule:

May 27 Mexico vs. Croatia Friendly Los Angeles Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
June 1 Mexico vs. Ireland Friendly East Rutherford MetLife Stadium
June 8 Mexico vs. Honduras 2018 World Cup qualifier Mexico City Estadio Azteca
