Jamie Vardy's rise from non-league football to international duty is a story like no other, but the striker will play no part in England's 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Scotland, nor its friendly against France.

Vardy left England's squad Wednesday as a precaution after picking up a minor injury in training at St. George's Park one day earlier, the Football Association announced. No footballers will be added to the Three Lions' team.

In another edition of the world's oldest international football match, England will visit its northern neighbour, Scotland, at Hampden Park on Saturday. The 2018 World Cup qualifier will be followed by a friendly against France on Tuesday at Stade de France.

In November, England defeated Scotland 3-0 in 2018 World Cup qualifying, as Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, and Gary Cahill found the back of the net. On that day, Vardy took the pitch as a substitute in the 74th minute.

Similarly, Vardy replaced Raheem Sterling in the 60th minute of England's last 2018 World Cup qualifier - a 2-0 victory over Lithuania in March - and tallied the Three Lions' second goal of the game just six minutes later.
