Manchester United finalized a deal to sign 18-year-old right-winger Amad Diallo Traore, one of the brightest prospects in Serie A, from Atalanta on Monday.

United said Traore will join the club in January, pending a work permit.

The deal is worth €21 million, plus a potential €20 million in add-ons, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.

Traore, who's been scouted by United since 2016, is just the latest exciting talent to come out of Atalanta's academy. Dejan Kulusevski, who recently joined Juventus for €35 million, also spent three years with the club's youth team.

Though Traore's played just 24 minutes of senior football, Atalanta captain Alejandro Gomez recently said the Ivorian teenager "plays like Messi" in training. He scored on his Serie A debut back in March, becoming the first player born in 2002 to bag a goal in the Italian top flight.

Traore was about to join Parma on loan when United reportedly swooped in with a late bid.

The deal comes at the end of a frustrating transfer window for United, who had pushed hard the entire summer to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho but were reportedly unwilling to meet the German club's €120-million asking price.

Edinson Cavani is also expected to arrive in due course. The 33-year-old free agent reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year contract with United.
