Juventus winger Douglas Costa is returning to the Bavarian capital for a second spell with Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga holders announced Monday.

Costa joins Bayern on a season-long loan three years after the German giants sold the Brazilian international to Juventus for a reported €40-million fee.

"I'm very happy to be playing for FC Bayern again. I had a wonderful time in Munich with lots of successes and I'm sure we'll win titles again," Costa said

The 30-year-old initially signed with Bayern in July 2015 for a reported €30-million agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk. He recorded 14 goals in 77 matches across all competitions over two seasons before enlisting with Juve on loan, after which he penned a permanent four-year pact with the Italian side.

"Douglas will strengthen us on the wings, which is important for our game. With Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala, and Douglas, we now have top players in those areas," Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said.

Bayern were also reportedly linked with Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who they pursued last summer before the teen agreed to new terms with the Premier League side.
