Mario Mandzukic is back in Italy after completing a move to Serie A leaders AC Milan on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old forward was available on a free transfer after leaving Qatari side Al Duhail last July. He signed a short-term contract at the San Siro.

Mandzukic won four straight Scudettos with Juventus before rubber-stamping his switch to the Middle East last January. The angular marksman also won the Champions League, two Bundesliga titles, and two DFB-Pokals with Bayern Munich, in addition to prolific stints in his native Croatia, and with Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid.

Milan's top scorers in Serie A are Zlatan Ibrahimovic (with 12), Franck Kessie (six), Rafael Leao (five), and Theo Hernandez (four). Ibrahimovic missed eight league matches with thigh and calf issues before returning to the squad on Jan. 9, a run that prompted head coach Stefano Pioli to field Ante Rebic and youngster Leao as his main focal point in attack.

Mandzukic's last competitive appearance was in Al Duhail's 2-1 league win at Al Sailiya on March 7, 2020.
