Napoli star and Euro 2020 winner Lorenzo Insigne is seriously considering accepting Toronto FC's offer of €11.5 million per season, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Insigne, who's out of contract June 30, could reportedly earn an additional €4.5 million in bonuses if he joins TFC.

Toronto would have to make Insigne one of its three Designated Players to make the deal work. Alejandro Pozuelo, Jozy Altidore, and Yeferson Soteldo currently occupy those three spots, but Altidore is expected to terminate his contract and become a free agent. Soteldo, who only joined TFC in April, could also leave the club before the start of the 2022 season.

Insigne is still one of Serie A's most fashionable players and a regular starter for the Italian national team. The left winger scored two goals at Euro 2020, including the winner against Belgium in the quarterfinals.

At 30 years old, he's also in his prime. Insigne's potential transfer to TFC echoes countryman Sebastian Giovinco's headline-grabbing move to Toronto at the age of 28 in January 2015. Giovinco won the MLS MVP award later that year and helped the club win the MLS Cup in 2017.

Insigne has struggled to play to his standards thus far this season, scoring just four goals in 15 Serie A appearances.
