Juventus unveiled Gleison Bremer as their latest signing Wednesday, announcing the Brazilian defender's arrival from crosstown rivals Torino in a deal worth €41 million.

The Old Lady said the final total could rise another €8 million if certain conditions are met. A further €3.6 million has been earmarked as "ancillary costs."

The Bianconeri moved quickly to sign Bremer, who looked destined to join Inter Milan this summer. Despite finalizing personal terms with the player in January, Inter reportedly failed to agree to a fee with Torino.

Bremer will replace Matthijs de Ligt, who completed his move to Bayern Munich on Tuesday in a deal worth up to €77 million.

Recently named Serie A's best defender, Bremer became Juventus' top priority when De Ligt signaled his intention to leave after just three seasons. The club eventually took the lead in negotiations with Torino, beating out the Nerazzurri's initial €30-million offer with a total package that could reach €49 million.

Bremer, who signed a five-year contract with Juventus, will earn more than €5 million after tax per season, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

A no-nonsense defender with incredible aerial ability, Bremer will add much-needed grit to Juventus' back line. The 25-year-old won a Serie A-leading 132 aerial duels in the 2021-22 season and finished fourth in clearances.

The departure of longtime captain Giorgio Chiellini and sale of Merih Demiral to Atalanta had left the Bianconeri with just two senior center-backs in the squad.

Federico Gatti, who recently made his debut for the Italian national team, could also rejoin Juventus after spending the season on loan at Frosinone.
