Antoine Griezmann put his touted transfer to Manchester United in doubt on Thursday when he hinted he'd return to Atletico Madrid for preseason training.

"(I'm) very happy with the support of the people, the fans, the teammates. It has been a great year and I hope I can get better every year and win trophies with this team. I will do everything possible," he said in a video clip on the club's Twitter account when collecting Atleti's Player of the Season award.

Atleti was competing on three fronts in the 2016-17 campaign, but fell short of silverware in each. Diego Simeone's lot was a semi-finalist in the Copa del Rey and Champions League, and finished its La Liga term in third. Griezmann said the team's goals were achieved, however, and insists he's ready to kick on with the capital club.

"Next season, my first hope is to work on the new signings, then the team and then, in San Rafael, build the same dynamics that we've had for a long time and try (to get) the new players adapt as soon as possible to the squad, and prepare this preseason well to start strong in the first matches," he said.

When the clip was filmed is unknown, and it seems to be at loggerheads with his recent admission that he's strongly considering a transfer to the Premier League.

United's name has topped the list of Griezmann's potential suitors for some time, and speculation heightened when Zlatan Ibrahimovic fell to a serious knee injury in April. It's understood that Griezmann's release clause stands at £85 million, and that he'd earn of a weekly salary of £300,000 at Old Trafford.
