Antoine Griezmann has no remorse over his choice to remain with Atletico Madrid following a summer in which he was linked to a number of lucrative transfers.

The French forward's future was a daily feature in the back pages throughout the summer, with reports suggesting an inevitable move away from the Spanish capital.

Manchester United appeared to be the most likely destination, but speculation went silent when Griezmann put pen to paper on a contract extension that runs until 2022.

"I do not regret having stayed at Atletico," Griezmann told Telefoot, as translated by Sky Sports. "It was my choice, I am happy with my choice, even though I have gone seven games without scoring. I will score again soon."

He added fuel to speculation over a potential move to Old Trafford last May during an appearances on a French talk show, where he said there was a 60 percent chance he could join United. But, Griezmann explained that he didn't have a chance to "express himself well" during the segment.

Griezmann also ruled out a move when the winter transfer window opens, saying he hasn't held talks with Atletico Madrid's president over a potential exit. He also insisted he would like to remain in Madrid and see how the additions of Diego Costa and Vitolo in January will benefit the capital-city club.

Selling Griezmann this winter, hypothetically, wouldn't yield the same return as the figures Madrid reportedly turned down in the past considering the 26-year-old's struggles have resulted in him finding the back of the net just three times in 14 matches.
