Donald Trump to attend U.S. Women's Open on Friday

President Donald Trump announced Friday he'll be in Bedminster, N.J., for the U.S. Women's Open at Trump National Golf Club.

Trump was in Paris, France this week to meet with President Emmanuel Macron, while also celebrating Bastille Day in the country.

The U.S. Women's Open is the biggest tournament on the calendar for the players, and two-time major champion Brittany Lincicome believed a Trump arrival would shift the focus of the event.

"Hopefully maybe he doesn't show up and it won't be a big debacle and it will be about us and not him," Lincicome told Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune. "I don't know him. I have met him probably once. I think it will be fine. We're going to play an amazing golf course and let our clubs do the talking."

Trump's course in Potomac Falls, Va., recently held the Senior PGA Championship in May, won by Bernhard Langer.
