Report: Napoli's Lozano sent home from training due to lack of effort

Don't give Gennaro Gattuso any less than 100%.

The Napoli manager kicked Hirving Lozano out of Monday's training session because he wasn't putting in enough effort, sources told ESPN's Andrew Cesare Richardson.

"Players who don't train at 100% being sent home is normal," Gattuso said, according to Richardson. "Today is a new day."

It's not the first time Gattuso has reprimanded his players for an apparent lack of effort. Midfielder Allan was dismissed from training in February for "walking around," Gattuso said at the time. Allan hasn't made a start since the incident.

Lozano has struggled to adapt since he joined Napoli from PSV in August for a reported €40 million. The Mexican international didn't appear in either the first or second leg of Napoli's Coppa Italia semifinal against Inter Milan.

The Partenopei fired Carlo Ancelotti in December after the players staged a mutiny and balked at team orders to spend the night at the club's training ground.

Gattuso has since led a revival of sorts, leading Napoli back to the Coppa Italia final for the first time since 2014. They're also nine points behind a Champions League place with 12 matches remaining.
