Watch: Dodgers' Grandal wears wrong batting helmet

Gary A. Vasquez / USA TODAY Sports

Yasmani Grandal skipped a key part of the Mike Leake scouting report apparently - that he will need to bat as a left-hander and therefore wear the helmet with the right earflap.

The switch-hitting Grandal showed up to his first-inning plate appearance wearing the wrong helmet.

Maybe he just felt really confident he was going to make it on base and prefers the earflap that faces the infield as opposed to the outfield. Or maybe Grandal just needed to get in the right mindset to catch Rich Hill - the left-hander that is Grandal's batterymate Wednesday evening. In all likelihood, it's none of that, and he just grabbed the wrong helmet.
