After undergoing surgery to treat a suspected - and later confirmed - case of testicular cancer on May 8, Jameson Taillon will return to game action for the first time Sunday when he will start a rehab game for the Double-A Altoona Curve, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced.

Sunday's matchup against the Erie Seawolves will mark Taillon's first appearance in a game since he took the mound for the Pirates on May 3 against the Cincinnati Reds.

Taillon also pitched his first bullpen session Tuesday since being diagnosed, and the Pirates right-hander expressed his desire to return to action soon.

"Every little step of good news is a relief in its own way," Taillon said earlier this week. "Being out here, being around the guys, that's the biggest relief. That's my comfort zone.

"I just want to return to normalcy," he continued. "I know it's everyone's job to talk about it, but I want to get to a point where I'm not the center of attention, and I just make my headlines pitching."
