Blue Jays place Sanchez on DL for 4th time with blister issues
Aaron Sanchez's miserable season continues to get worse.
The Toronto Blue Jays placed the right-hander on the 10-day disabled list Saturday for the fourth time this season due to a reoccurring blister on his pitching hand.
Sanchez has dealt with blisters and fingernail issues dating back to March, and met with a hand specialist this weekend in Cleveland in hopes of finding a solution.
One of the best young pitchers in the American League, Sanchez's frequent absence from the rotation has played a major role in the Blue Jays' struggles. After throwing a career-high 192 innings during an All-Star campaign in 2016, Sanchez has been limited to just 36 innings this season.
He first landed on the DL on April 15 with a blister on his right middle finger, and returned to make one start before going back on the DL on May 1 with a split nail. Sanchez came back again, made two starts, and was then sidelined with a blister May 20 that would keep him out of action for nearly two months.
Over his last three starts, Sanchez has posted a 6.17 ERA and allowed opponents to hit .377/.484/.547 with two home runs and 11 walks.
