North State Little League, the Southeast representative in the 2017 Little League World Series, pulled off pitching history Friday against the Sioux Fall Little League team from the Midwest region as they threw the first perfect game at the fabled competition since 2008.

North Carolina, which won 6-0, is also the first team from the U.S. to toss a perfect game at the Little League World Series.

Chase Anderson, who started for North Carolina, pitched three frames and struck out four, while reliever Matthew Matthijs fanned five in 2 2/3 innings.

There have now been five perfect games at the event since 1970.
