Reddick wanted Dodgers in WS: 'I got booed a lot as a home player'

Josh Reddick's World Series is personal.

The Houston Astros locked up just their second appearance in the Fall Classic when they eliminated the New York Yankees in seven games on Saturday to win the American League pennant. That set up a date against Reddick's former club, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the outfielder is relishing the opportunity to show up his ex-team's rabid fans in the World Series.

"It's gonna be fun. There were a lot of good guys there that I played with last year, trying to get to where we are now. Personally, I wouldn't rather do it against any other team," he told the Los Angeles Times' Pedro Moura. "I wasn't really a fan favorite there. I got booed a lot as a home player. I didn't really fit in, it seemed like they thought. I tried to put that behind me. But I think it's gonna be fun to go back, especially to beat them.

"It's gonna be a really good feeling for me personally."

Along with starter Rich Hill, Reddick was acquired by the Dodgers at the 2016 non-waiver trade deadline from the Oakland Athletics. After slashing .296/.368/.449 and chipping in eight home runs in 68 games with Oakland, Reddick failed to perform to the same standard in Los Angeles, where he owned a .258/.307/.335 slash line with just two home runs in 47 appearances.

Though he's rebounded superbly this season in Houston (.314/.363/.484 with 13 home runs), he can't deny he'd love to quiet the same fans that ripped him a year ago.

"Nothing against that team, that organization. There's a lot of history and a lot of great guys over there," Reddick said. "But the fan base, I think it'd be more personal for me to win. Just to get that reaction from them. But it's not gonna be easy.

"They're a really good team, a really good ballpark. Their fans are gonna be loud, just like it was this series for the Yankees."
