The Los Angeles Dodgers advanced past the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series without shortstop Corey Seager, but it appears they won't have to attempt to win the World Series without him.

Seager participated in fielding drills and took bating practice Sunday, saying he's ready to play.

"It was the right move to sit out the NLCS," Seager told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. "Luckily, I'm ready to go now."

The 23-year-old was left off the NLCS roster after tweaking his back in the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

After Los Angeles advanced to the World Series Thursday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he expected Seager would appear in Game 1. The skipper re-iterated to Bob Nightengale of USA Today on Sunday he expected Seager to play shortstop and hit second in Game 1, and could DH when the series shifts to Houston.

Seager was one of the Dodgers' most productive hitters throughout the regular season, hitting .295/.375/.479 with 22 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 33 doubles.
