Dodgers GM: Turner 'a little banged-up' heading into World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers met the media ahead of the World Series for a workout Sunday that third baseman Justin Turner didn't participate in.

"He's taking it easy," Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi told Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. "It's been a long season. J.T. is laying low, he's a little banged-up, and we don't want him out here going through a full workout."

Turner missed some action in the final week of the regular season after getting hit on the thumb by a pitch. He also spent time on the disabled list with a hamstring injury back in June.

Though Turner sat out the exercises, Zaidi did not think it would jeopardize the co-MVP of the National League Championship Series' ability to play Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, shortstop Corey Seager not only participated in Sunday's workout, it appears he'll be cleared to return just in time for the World Series.

Seager sat out the NLCS against the Chicago Cubs, but told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN that he's "ready to go now."

Turner posted a .322/.415/.530 slash line over 130 games this year and finished as a top-15 position player by FanGraphs' WAR.
