New York Yankees star Aaron Judge underwent arthroscopic surgery Monday to clean up some cartilage and remove a loose body from his left shoulder, the team announced.

He is expected to be ready to go when spring training gets underway in February.

Shoulder issues notwithstanding, Judge authored a legendary rookie season in 2017, managing 8.2 WAR with a 1.049 OPS and 52 home runs - a new rookie record - in 155 games en route to an All-Star berth and Silver Slugger award. Last week, the 25-year-old right fielder was named the American League Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Yankees player to win the award since Derek Jeter in 1996, then finished second in MVP voting to Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve.
