Lenny Dykstra pleads not guilty to drug, terroristic threat charges
Former Major League Baseball All-Star Lenny Dykstra pleaded not guilty to drug and terroristic threat charges, which both stem from an incident with an Uber driver, in a New Jersey court on Monday, according to The Associated Press.
Following his arrest in May, Dykstra was charged with one count each of possessing cocaine, possessing methamphetamine, and making terroristic threats to the driver.
All three crimes are punishable by up to five years in prison.
After the incident, Dykstra claimed he asked to change the trip's destination, but that the driver refused and tried to kidnap him.
The driver reportedly told police that Dykstra held a gun to his head, although no gun was ever discovered.
Police did find drugs in Dykstra's possession, however.
The 55-year-old last played in the majors in 1996 and retired for good after attempting a comeback in 1998.
