The San Francisco Giants signed left-hander Derek Holland to a one-year contract with a club option for 2020 on Monday, the team announced.

His deal is worth $7 million, a source told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, and can max out at $15 million over two years, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Holland could reportedly earn $6.5 million in base salary with escalators for the second year based on starts, and the deal apparently includes a $500,000 buyout if the 2020 option isn't exercised.

The 32-year-old spent 2018 with the Giants and authored a 3.57 ERA, his lowest mark for a season since 2013 (with at least 40 innings pitched). He also struck out 8.9 hitters per nine innings across 30 starts.

He'll rejoin a rotation that includes Madison Bumgarner, Jeff Samardzija, Dereck Rodriguez, and Andrew Suarez. Johnny Cueto is unlikely to pitch in 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Across 10 big-league seasons, Holland owns a 76-73 record with a 4.44 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP in 244 appearances, including 214 starts.
