Jose Altuve was removed from Friday's game against the Texas Rangers due to left hamstring discomfort after the Houston Astros second baseman legged out an infield single, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

After the game, Astros manager A.J. Hinch told reporters he doesn't believe Altuve's injury is serious and that the club will know more tomorrow, according to Chandler Rome of The Houston Chronicle.

Aledmys Diaz replaced Altuve as a pinch runner and stayed in the game at second base in the top of the second.

Altuve, 29, has posted a .243/.329/.472 slash line with nine homers and one stolen base to start the 2019 season. The five-time Silver Slugger is one year removed from winning the American League MVP, leading all of baseball with a .346 batting average in 2017.
