Philadelphia Phillies reliever David Robertson will be sidelined for at least another month following a Monday visit with Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his sore right arm, according to Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The right-hander is dealing with a flexor strain and has been advised not to throw for three weeks in an attempt to avoid surgery, according to Breen.

Robertson, 34, hasn't pitched since mid-April. He was supposed to be a key cog in Philadelphia's bullpen after signing a two-year, $23-million deal in the offseason as a free agent.

Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said he does not have a timetable for Robertson's return.

"David feels more comfortable with this most recent diagnosis and more confident," Kapler said. "It was a good-news visit from our perspective."

The club has just eight saves this season, which ranks 22nd among the 30 MLB teams. Entering Monday's action, however, the bullpen's 3.89 ERA was 8th-best in the majors.

Robertson has 137 saves with a 2.90 ERA and 11.9 K/9 rate over a career split between the Phillies, New York Yankees, and Chicago White Sox.
