Major League Baseball has placed Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias on seven-day administrative leave following his arrest under suspicion of domestic battery, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Urias, 22, was arrested Monday night after police responded to a report of an argument in the parking lot of the Beverley Center, according to A.J. Perez of USA TODAY Sports. Urias was cited for a misdemeanor and had his bond set at $20,000.

"We learned about the alleged incident this morning and are in the process of gathering information," the Dodgers said in a statement obtained by Perez. "As a result, we have no comment at this time regarding the incident. However, every allegation of domestic violence must be taken seriously and addressed promptly, and we will cooperate fully with the authorities and Major League Baseball to ensure that that happens in this case."

MLB will conduct an investigation into Monday's arrest and reserves the right to extend the leave at the end of the seven days under the current collective bargaining agreement.

The league placed Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell on administrative leave in September while it investigated a blog post made by his ex-wife, who wrote that Russell repeatedly abused her during their marriage. Russell served a 40-game suspension, backdated to his first day spent on administrative leave.
