Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda had the game of several lifetimes on Wednesday night when he took the San Diego Padres to the cleaners.

Maeda struck out 12 Padres over 6 2/3 innings while also driving in the Dodgers' lone two runs in the 2-0 victory. He's the first pitcher since the RBI became an official statistic in 1920 to have 12 or more strikeouts while driving in multiple runs that covered his offense's total output, according to Stats by STATS.

At one point, he struck out six straight Padres hitters.

The 12 strikeouts were a season high for a Dodgers pitcher and tied for second most in Maeda's career. The 31-year-old fanned 13 in a 2016 outing - also against the Padres - over seven innings of one-run ball.

Through nine starts, Maeda is 5-2 with a 3.51 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 9.12 K/9 in 51 1/3 innings.
