Robinson Cano's return to action lasted all of two plate appearances.

Just hours after being activated from the injured list by the New York Mets, Cano was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants after he limped out of the batter's box on a ground ball.

The Mets announced that Cano left the game because of a tight left quadriceps - a recurrence of the injury he just returned from.

Adeiny Hechavarria replaced Cano at second base.

Wednesday marked Cano's first game since May 22, when he initially hurt his quad. He missed two weeks of action because of the quad issue. However, Cano said after the game that he doesn't believe this recurrence will send him back to the IL.

"I wasn't limping because I was hurt or anything like that," Cano told reporters, according to SNY. "I just don't want to push it."

The 36-year-old went 0-for-2 with an RBI during his brief appearance Wednesday. He's hitting .238/.284/.366 with three homers, 13 doubles, and 36 strikeouts during his first season in Queens.
