The Toronto Blue Jays may have Marcus Stroman in their long-term plans after all.

Though Stroman acknowledged Wednesday he's at peace with potentially being traded before the July 31 deadline, the Blue Jays have told interested suitors they might not deal the right-hander but try to sign him to an extension instead, a source told Andy Martino of SNY.

Martino adds it's unclear if the Blue Jays are serious about an extension or simply posturing in order to drive up Stroman's value.

There is reportedly plenty of interest in Stroman's services, as the 28-year-old is in the midst of a career year and could be the best starter available - especially if the San Francisco Giants decide to keep Madison Bumgarner.

Stroman owns a 2.96 ERA - the third-best mark in the American League - along with a 1.23 WHIP and 99 strikeouts in 124 2/3 innings. He's pitched exceptionally well of late, allowing just one run over 14 innings while punching out 11.

Despite being the subject to trade rumors for the better part of the season, Stroman has been adamant his desire is to remain in Toronto long-term. He has one more year of arbitration eligibility before becoming a free agent.

"There's been no willingness from the front office to sign me so I've just kinda come to terms with it and I'm ready to dominate wherever that may be. Absolutely dominate," Stroman said following Wednesday's start.
