Yankees' Hicks could be done for season after setback
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks experienced a setback while recovering from a flexor strain in his right elbow and his season could be over, manager Aaron Boone said before Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.
Boone added that Hicks hasn't been able to throw during his recovery.
"He was looking forward to throwing and starting to throw," Boone said. "He might get a second opinion to make sure. We feel good about where he is from an injury front, but it’s not getting to that point to where we’re able to advance him into baseball activities."
Hicks suffered the injury against Boston on Aug. 3, and he's only appeared in 59 games this season, hitting .235/.325/.443 with 12 home runs and 36 RBIs.
The Yankees signed the 29-year-old to a seven-year contract extension in February that guarantees him $70 million.
