The Chicago White Sox have traded catcher Welington Castillo and an international signing bonus pool slot to the Texas Rangers for infielder/outfielder Jonah McReynolds, the team announced Thursday.

Texas is not expected to keep Castillo, reports MLB.com's TR Sullivan, who adds the Rangers will decline the catcher's $8-million club option and pay the $500,000 buyout attached to his contract.

Castillo, 32, hit .209/.267/.417 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs for the White Sox in 2019.

He signed a two-year contract in December 2017, but his tenure on the South Side of Chicago didn't go well. Castillo received an 80-game suspension in May 2018 after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance and only appeared in 121 total games for the White Sox, slashing .230/.282/.413 with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs.

McReynolds, 23, was a 13th-round draft selection of the Rangers in 2016. He hit .239/.327/.391 with six homers, 10 doubles, and 32 RBIs in 56 games for Single-A Spokane last season.
