Minnesota Twins shortstop Jorge Polanco underwent arthroscopic debridement surgery on his right ankle Friday for an ankle impingement, according to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com.

The Twins expect Polanco to resume baseball activities in six weeks and he should be ready in time for spring training, Park added.

Polanco's injury, described as a chronic ailment, is due to repetitive stress, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic.

The 26-year-old All-Star posted a .841 OPS with 22 home runs for the American League Central champions last season. Polanco finished 13th in AL MVP voting following a breakout campaign.
