Pete Rose has friends in high places as he pursues eternal enshrinement in baseball's Hall of Fame.

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to make a plea for the disgraced longtime major-leaguer to be inducted to Cooperstown.

Major League Baseball's all-time hits leader was banned for life in 1989 for gambling on baseball while serving as manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

Trump joins the fight for Rose's reinstatement days after the former hit king submitted his own request in the wake of the Houston Astros' cheating scandal.

Rose played parts of 24 seasons with the Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and Montreal Expos, amassing a record 4,256 hits over 3,562 games with a lifetime slash line of .303/.375/.409. Ty Cobb is second all time with 4,189 base hits.

A 17-time All-Star, Rose eclipsed 200 hits in 10 different seasons and won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1963 and NL MVP in 1973. He also accrued three World Series titles in 1975 (when he was Series MVP), 1976, and 1980.

Rose last applied for reinstatement in 2015 but was rejected by commissioner Rob Manfred.
