Report: Red Sox, Pillar nearing major-league deal

The Boston Red Sox and free-agent outfielder Kevin Pillar are close to completing a deal, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Pillar would arrive on a major-league contract, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The 31-year-old was non-tendered in December despite posting career highs in home runs (21) and RBIs (88) while playing in 161 contests split between the San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays.
Boston is currently projected to start Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Alex Verdugo in the outfield. All three players bat left-handed, while Pillar hits right-handed.
The Pittsburgh Pirates were also reportedly interested in adding the seven-year veteran.
