Former Major League Baseball player and manager Art Howe was released from a hospital on Sunday after spending more than a week in intensive care battling COVID-19.
"I am definitely home," Howe told Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle in a text message. "I just want to thank all the friends and fans for all the kind emails and texts. They were very uplifting."
Howe tested positive for COVID-19 last week after he felt symptoms that caused his body to "shake like a leaf."
The 73-year-old played 11 seasons in the majors from 1974-1985.
Howe then managed his first big-league game in 1989 with the Astros, where he spent five seasons. He later managed the Oakland Athletics from 1996-2002 and the New York Mets from 2003-04.
