The Atlanta Braves will open the season without both of their catchers.
Manager Brian Snitker announced that Tyler Flowers and Travis d'Arnaud will miss Friday's game against the New York Mets after both experienced symptoms of COVID-19, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
Both players tested negative despite showing symptoms and were left in Atlanta. They will not rejoin the team until they are symptom-free and continue to post negative tests.
Catchers Alex Jackson and William Contreras were recalled.
The Braves have already had a number of players sidelined by COVID-19. Star first baseman Freddie Freeman missed part of summer camp with the virus, while reliever Will Smith is still absent from the club.
