Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly believes baseball won't be the same again until 2022 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"I think we're looking for 2022 to start to feel normal again, while we work through this in 2021," Boehly said, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Boehly acknowledged the Dodgers are already planning how to accommodate spectators safely next season, including quick COVID-19 testing.

"For us, we're starting to think a lot about, come March, what are the proper testing protocols, and how are we going to get fans back into stadiums, and how can we test at scale?" Boehly said. "How can we have testing protocols that get people safely back into the seats, even if we have a vaccine?

"We think this is now going to be in our backpack of risks, and we're going to have to figure out how to deal with it. Hopefully, quick, cheap testing is going to be one of the many tools that we have, and we're seeing that develop faster and faster."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that sports teams could sell up to 20-25% of seating capacity at a venue based on a tier color indicating a region's virus control, Shaikin noted.

Dodger Stadium could fit 14,000 fans at the 25% threshold.
